| 4/2/11 OPEN CASH TOURNAMENT REPLACES ALLOY TOURNAMENT
[+/-] view details
Hi Everyone, I decided to replace the Alloy tournaments with Open Cash Tournaments. Let me define what these new tournaments are. "Open" - If you do not have an NSA team you can register your team for $25 and submit your roster the morning of the tournament. If you have are an NSA team and have a registration number you need to use your NSA roster. If you have an NSA registration and you want to put together a new team then you will need to pay for a new Registration number. NSA LEAGUE teams already have a sanction number and can submit their roster the morning of the tournament. Be sure you enter by the deadline date of the tournament. "Cash" - means that we are paying cash prizes on the day of the tournament to the top three teams. See the individual tournament for details. As always, if you have a question please call, or e-mail, me. Thanks, Jim |

This year you will be able to register using your old information, or doing it the new way. If you choose registering the new way you won't have to re-enter your old team's data and you will be able to select which players, from last year's team, are to be brought forward to this year's roster. All you need is last year's registration number and the e-mail address that appeared on your registration. If you need that please send me an e-mail and I will send the info back to you. Also this year you will be allowed to make one change, per player, to your roster. After that changes will have to be sent to me. Remember in the past you couldn't make any changes to the roster. Try the new way and let me know what you think Thanks, Jim |

[+/-] view details
Hi Everyone, I had to reschedule this tournament. I screwed up. The 24th is Easter. Someone pointed this out to me on Saturday. I have tried a number of different alternatives and this seems to be the most reasonable. I don't think you want to play on Easter. It is a time for families and I agree. There really was no way for me to run this tournament in one day and break even. I have rescheduled the tournament to May 7-8, 2011. Thanks, Jim |

| 2011 "ALLOY BAT" TOURNAMENTS IN WISCONSIN
[+/-] view details
The NSA is experimenting with a new type of tournament this year. It will be an "Alloy" Bat Tournament. A Bat list will be available soon but the bat has to be on our normal Bat List to be considered for that list. Our first tournament will be on May 14, in Medford, Wisconsin. Entry fee will be $185. ($175 if payment is paid by check). The payout will be 1st Place - $500; 2nd Place - $250; 3rd Place - $175. I must have payment by 5/10 for your team to be in the tournament. Our second tournament will be on June 16, in Salem, Wisconsin. Entry fee will be $235. ($225 if payment is paid by check). The payout will be 1st Place - $1000; 2nd Place - $500; 3rd Place - $350. I must have payment by 6/14 for your team to be in the tournament. The cash award will be paid at the completion of the tournament. There will a $26 ($25 if paid by check) NSA Team Registration Fee. If you are already NSA registered AND you plan on using your on-line roster you can use your NSA Registration number to enter the tournament. An OPEN tournament means you can use your regular registration and use your on-line roster, or, you can get a new registration number (for $26/$25) and fill out a "paper" roster on the morning of the tournament. There will be an "Alloy Bat" Director's Cup Championship in Kokomo, Indiana on Sept. 24 & 25. Teams supply their own ball. It must be an NSA ball and I will have softballs available for sale at the tournament. Thanks, Jim |

| 2010 NSA ALL-STAR TOURNAMENT - WE DECIDED TO PASS THIS YEAR.
[+/-] view details
Hi Everyone, I need your help as I have to make a decision. As you know, the NSA is hosting an All-Star tournament October 28-29 in Florida. This is where we will have brackets showing teams like New York against Alabama and North Carolina against Indiana. You can see the rules for the tournament by going to PlayNSA.com, click on Players, and then All-Star Tournament Information. We, Wisconsin, has made a verbal commitment to participate. The deadline for verbal commitments is June 15. By July 1 we have to register and submit our sanction and tournament fee. I asked Mike Cook to head the team and he accepted. We have two problems. One is money and the other is players. I have committed to paying the team registration fee ($25) and the tournament registration fee ($350). But we need help with the rest. I am estimating $5000 at the most. I know some of you, or some of the players on your teams, have influence in the companies you work at. If we could get 10 companies to contribute $500 a piece that would be great. I could have a banner made up for the tournament with all of the company logos and we could do a team picture down in Florida. Please help. We are up against a deadline. The second problem is players. Mike is looking for the best team Wisconsin can field. If you, or anyone on your team, are interested in going down to Florida (to see all of our oil) to play some softball, please let me know. I will forward this on to Mike. I would love to see Wisconsin in the All-Star tournament in Florida but I just don't have the money to sponsor our team and I am too old to play (no fat jokes). Now is the time to act. Hi evevyone, If you are planning on playing NSA please check with your players to see if they have played NSA before. Please don't put me in a position where I have to send you an e-mail saying that you have to move up in class because of one player. If you want, I can check your roster out before you register. Send me the players' names, addresses, and birth dates and I should be able to tell you if there is a problem. Also, please make sure the spelling of their name is accurate so I get it right the first time. Thank you, Jim Valentine 2010 FOOD DRIVE

Hi everyone, Last year we held a food drive at each one of our tournaments. The food was donated to the local Food Pantry in Paddock Lake. I know we were all hoping that this economy would have recovered enough where we would not need to do it this year. But it hasn't. So I am announcing that, again in 2010, we will have a Food Drive at all of our tournaments. I am asking that everyone (players and spectators) bring an item of food for the Food Pantry. Consider it the price of admission. Thank you, Jim Valentine 2010 NATIONAL ALL-STAR GAME

Hi everyone, I have received the rules for the National All-Star game to be held in Panama City Beach on October 28th and 29th. I have listed them below. I have asked Mike Cook to be our Captain and he has accepted. We have two issues before us: 1) We need players. They must be Wisconsin residents. Mike will choose the team. 2) We need sponsors. I anticipate the costs as follows: Registration Fee: $25 Entry Fee: $350 Uniforms (See Rules below) Plane tickets: Southwest flies to Panama City Beach now. Hotel: I will be there for the convention. The tournament is the two days before the start of the convention. I stay at the Edgewater Beach Resort. This past year the golf villas at this place cost $123 and had three bedrooms. 2/18/2010 Travis' appeal has been approved. He is eligible to play in 2010. 2/2/2010 This was posted by Travis on a number of boards today. In 2008, at the NSA " C" Super World Series, in St. Louis, I played for a team under an assumed name. On the Saturday, of the tournament, I was discovered, and disqualified. As a result, the NSA suspended me for this action. I am now appealing to be reinstated. The NSA has spent, and spends, a lot of time, and effort, to build and maintain the integrity of their system. I regret my effort to compromise their program. I apologize to the NSA, its directors, Wisconsin softball players, and the softball community at large, for what I did. That weekend I lied to several directors, and players, while trying to get myself out of the situation, to no avail. Additionally, I brought attention, in a negative way, upon the State of Wisconsin and the softball players in the state. I regret my actions and wish to put this incident behind me. I ask that the NSA, and its staff, accept my apology and approve my appeal to play in the 2010 season. Thank you for your consideration, Travis Clark 2010 BOB MARFECHUK NAMED ASSISSTANT STATE DIRECTOR

Bob and I have been working together for 7 or 8 years now. We met each other as umpires at Lumpy's in Salem. 5 years ago I was named State Director, and Bob, who was State UIC stayed on to help me get started. Bob has become my right arm. I don't know what I would do if he left the organization. He does such a great job with the umpires that I have appointed Bob as the Wisconsin Assistant State Director. He will continue his role as the State UIC which he has done so well. Bob has been a true friend over the years and he has done a super job as UIC. I am sure as we grow Bob will show he is much more than a Umpire in Charge. 2010 B NIT ON MAY 22 CHANGED TO AN A/B NIT
